Description
Fused quartz tubing is made from high-purity silica that is melted and formed into seamless tube stock for high-temperature and high-purity work. This tubing has a 5.00 mm inside diameter and a 7.25 mm outside diameter, giving it a 2.25 mm wall that holds its shape well during fabrication while still allowing controlled heat transfer through the wall. Fused quartz is chosen in scientific lampworking when borosilicate is not enough, especially for applications that demand extremely low thermal expansion, strong resistance to thermal shock, and excellent chemical inertness. In practice, this means it can tolerate aggressive heating and cooling cycles better than most glass types, making it a go-to material for specialty lab components, high-temperature sleeves, and tubing runs where contamination and deformation must be minimized.
