Description:
This is a 6" diamond sanding disc in 325 mesh grit, made for fast material removal and surface leveling. The working surface is diamond abrasive bonded to a flexible disc with a pressure sensitive adhesive backing so it can be mounted to a compatible flat lap plate or disc master.
In glass work, a 325 mesh diamond disc is commonly used as an early shaping and smoothing step after coarse grinding. It is aggressive enough to remove saw marks, flatten high spots, and true up edges, while leaving a consistent scratch pattern that can be refined with higher grits and polishing steps.
How it is used:
- Mount the disc to a clean, flat backing plate using the adhesive backing and press it down evenly to avoid bubbles or wrinkles.
- Use with water as coolant and lubricant while grinding to reduce heat, control glass dust, and extend disc life.
- Apply light, even pressure and keep the glass moving to prevent flat spots and reduce the chance of chipping on edges.
- After the surface is trued and the scratch pattern is uniform, move to finer grits such as 600 and 1200, then polish as needed.
