Construction
By applying a Diamond Topper to a master backing plate, you get a competent replacement surface for tired and worn discs without changing your existing setup. The topper is prepared with the same diamond abrasive quality as a full diamond disc, but in a thinner format intended to refresh cutting performance.
It is built with a pressure-sensitive adhesive backing so it can be applied flat and securely to the backing plate. This adhesive layer is what allows quick changeover while keeping the topper stable during grinding.
Why and When It Is Used in Lampworking
In lampworking and scientific glass work, this topper is used during coldworking when you need to restore a reliable cutting surface for shaping and truing annealed glass. It is especially useful when a primary disc has slowed down from wear and you need predictable, even grinding again.
The 100 grit grade is used early in the finishing process when you need faster material removal, such as knocking down high spots, flattening a surface, or correcting a fit before progressing through finer grits for refinement and polish.
