Construction

By applying a Diamond Topper to a master backing plate, one is provided with an all around adept and competent replacement for tired and worn discs. Toppers are prepared with the same high quality as the Diamond Discs and are readied with a pressure-sensitive adhesive backing.

The topper is built to be a quick-change diamond abrasive surface that bonds to a reusable master plate. The pressure-sensitive adhesive layer is intended to keep the topper seated evenly so it runs flat, cuts consistently, and restores performance without replacing the full disc assembly.

Why and When It Is Used in Lampworking

In lampworking and scientific glass work, this topper is used during coldworking when you need a dependable diamond surface for shaping and refining annealed glass. It is commonly used to true up edges, flatten small sealing surfaces, and remove tool marks or irregularities after the piece is safely annealed.

The 260 grit grade is a refinement step that follows coarser shaping grits. It is used when you want to reduce the depth of scratches left by earlier grinding while still keeping enough bite to correct the surface efficiently. From here, most workflows step up through finer diamond grits to tighten the scratch pattern before pre-polish and final polish.
