The 6" Pro Diamond Sanding Disc Set is a multi-step lapidary sanding and polishing kit built around diamond abrasive discs sized for a 6 inch lap wheel system. The set is constructed as a progression of diamond grit discs for shaping and smoothing, followed by a polish pad and cerium oxide for final finishing. In glasswork, this style of disc set is used after cutting or coldworking to flatten surfaces, refine edges, remove saw marks, and bring glass to a clean pre-polish and polish, making it especially useful for pendants, paperweights, marbles, flat components, and any work that needs a controlled, repeatable finish.
How it is used:
- Mount the appropriate 6 inch disc to your lap wheel or backing plate system and run with water to keep the glass cool and to carry away swarf.
- Start with the coarsest included diamond disc to remove chips, true an edge, or flatten a surface.
- Move through the finer diamond discs in order, removing the scratches from the previous grit before stepping up again.
- Switch to the white polish pad and use cerium oxide as the polishing compound to bring the surface up to a final shine.
- Rinse the glass and the work area between steps to avoid carrying coarse grit into the finer stages.
