Description:
The 8" Diamond Topper is a diamond abrasive surface designed to be applied to a master backing plate to renew a worn grinding disc. It is made to the same high quality standard as the Diamond Discs and is supplied with a pressure-sensitive adhesive backing so it can be mounted cleanly and securely. In a glass studio, this style of topper is used to refresh your coldworking setup without replacing the entire plate, keeping your grinding surface consistent while restoring cutting speed and uniform abrasion.
How it is used:
This topper is used by applying it directly onto a master backing plate to create a fresh, flat diamond grinding surface. In lampworking and kilnformed glass finishing, it is used during coldworking to grind and true surfaces, flatten small areas, and remove material in a controlled way when a previous disc has become tired or worn. The 100 grit is chosen when you need aggressive stock removal and fast shaping before moving on to finer grits.
