Description:
Asian 10mm Clear Boro Rod is clear borosilicate rod stock intended for flameworking and scientific glass work where you want a heavier, more rigid starting diameter. The larger 10mm size gives you more mass at the torch, which is useful when you need to pull down into smaller rod, build up thicker sections, or keep heat in the glass while you establish a gather. This is the kind of clear you reach for when you want dependable working stock for encasement, sleeving over color, building handles and punty-style attachments in bench work, or for any job where a thin rod would chill too quickly.
How it is used:
Work the end of the rod in a neutral flame to establish an even heat base, then gather and shape as needed. In lampworking, 10mm clear is commonly used to create larger clear gathers for encasing, to pull points and smaller rod, and to form thicker structural elements that need stiffness and thermal stability while you manipulate the piece. For cleaner results, keep the rod rotating as it heats so you don’t introduce a flat spot, and bring the whole working zone up to temperature before making seals or adding it to an existing hot assembly.
