Amber is a warm, transparent color that’s commonly chosen when you want a honey-to-caramel tone with good light transmission, making it a strong choice for beads, small blown components, and layered color work where you still want depth and glow. How it is used:
- Preheat the rod in a kiln or rod warmer when possible to reduce thermal shock before introducing it to the flame.
- Start heating slowly at the far end of the flame, then move into the working zone once the rod is evenly warmed.
- Build a gather for wrapping and shaping beads, pendants, and small sculptural forms.
- Pull stringer from a hot gather for line work, scrollwork, and fine detail.
