How it is used:
This rod is worked directly in a flameworking torch to create gathers, apply color overlays, pull points and stringer, and build up sculptural forms. The 12mm diameter is especially useful when you want to lay down a lot of color quickly for larger beads, pendants, small figures, and other medium-to-large lampworked work, while still maintaining control over heat soak and rotation. After forming, pieces are annealed to stabilize the color and relieve stress.
