Asian 16mm Clear Boro Rod is clear borosilicate glass rod stocked for lampworking and scientific-style fabrication where you need clean, workable clear in a larger diameter. It is supplied as a case quantity and is intended for gathering, building up mass, making thick-walled sections, and producing clear components where strength and clarity are the priority. Clear rod in this size is commonly used when you want extra material on the end of the punty for larger seals, heavy wall work, or when you are pulling down to smaller stock while keeping the glass clean and consistent.
How it is used:
This rod is typically introduced into the flame slowly to heat evenly, then used for gathering and shaping clear glass for blown forms, thick-walled tubing starts, solid sculpture, or reinforcement wraps and bridges. In scientific technique it is often used anywhere a strong, clear build is needed for handles, supports, and structural elements, or as starting stock that can be pulled into smaller rod sizes. It can also be used as a clear base for encasement work when you want maximum optical clarity.
