Asian 16mm White Tubing is a dense, vibrant white borosilicate color glass tubing made in China. It is manufactured as straight, even-walled tubing intended for flameworking work where you want a strong, opaque white that reads clean and solid in the finished piece. White like this is commonly chosen when you need maximum contrast against transparent colors, when you want crisp linework and overlays, or when you want an opaque base that will visually “hold” a form without the brightness shifting as the wall thickness changes.
This tubing is used by heating and rotating in the torch to evenly bring the glass up to working temperature, then shaping by blowing, pulling, sealing, and joining to other borosilicate components. It is commonly used for building sections of color tubing work, sleeving and layering over clear or other colors, making blown forms where an opaque white body is desired, and creating high-contrast design elements in sculptural and functional borosilicate work.
