Asian 18mm x 1.8mm Clear Tubing is clear borosilicate glass tubing made for flameworking and scientific glass work where you need clean, consistent wall thickness and predictable handling in the flame. The 18mm outside diameter paired with a 1.8mm wall gives you a strong tube that still heats evenly enough for seals, joins, and shaping without feeling overly heavy or sluggish. This size range is commonly chosen when you want a comfortable hand feel for larger connections, heavier-walled sections, and work that benefits from added durability during handling and fabrication.
This clear tubing is used as starting stock for building and repairing borosilicate components. In lampworking, it is commonly cut to length, fire-polished, and then heated for operations like pulling points, forming openings, making joins, and building straight sections before adding transitions or other components. The thicker wall is especially useful when you want a bit more stiffness during assembly, when you expect additional grinding or coldworking later, or when the finished piece needs extra strength in service.
