Description:
Asian 19mm Clear Boro Rod is clear borosilicate rod stock intended for flameworking and scientific glass work where you need a large, stable mass of clear material. It is manufactured as solid, round rod with consistent clarity so it can be heated evenly, gathered, and shaped without introducing unwanted haze or distortion. This diameter is commonly chosen when the work demands thicker walls, larger seals, or substantial gathers that would be inefficient to build up from smaller rod.
How it is used:
This rod is typically introduced into a neutral to slightly oxidizing flame and brought up to working temperature slowly so the heat penetrates the full cross section. Once evenly heated, it is used for building large clear sections, pulling points, forming thick bridges and attachments, making heavy-duty handles, and adding mass for encasement or reinforcement. In scientific-style work it is also useful anywhere a robust clear component is needed before further forming, joining, or pulling down into smaller sections.
