Asian 32mm Cobalt Blue Tubing is heavily saturated transparent cobalt blue borosilicate color tubing made in China and supplied in straight 4 ft lengths. This is a deep, high-chroma transparent blue chosen when you want strong color presence without going opaque, especially on larger hollow work where the wall thickness and diameter can visually amplify the saturation. Large diameter color tubing like this is typically used when the tubing itself is the body of the work, giving you consistent color through the wall rather than relying on surface applications.
This tubing is used as a starting blank for hollow borosilicate lampworking. Bring the tube up to temperature slowly and evenly, keeping it rotating so the heat base stays uniform and the tube remains round. Once the glass is moving, you can blow and shape it into larger hollow sections, sleeves, and bodies for vessels or other components where you want a continuous cobalt blue wall. For clean seals and joins, match heat on both parts, keep the tube aligned, and seal with controlled heat so the color does not thin unevenly at the weld line. Anneal on an appropriate borosilicate schedule to relieve stress and maintain clarity.
