Asian 3mm Clear Boro Rod is clear borosilicate rod intended for flameworking and scientific glass work where you want clean, neutral glass with predictable handling in the flame. This rod is manufactured as straight, solid clear boro cane that can be heated evenly, gathered, and pulled without introducing color shift, making it a dependable “base glass” for both functional and sculptural builds.
In day-to-day shop use, 3mm clear rod is a staple size for small joins, detail work, stringer pulls, and building up small components where you want control without adding excess mass. It is also commonly used for making small bridges, tack-welding parts during assembly, and reinforcing delicate areas before final shaping.
How it is used:
In lampworking, 3mm clear boro rod is typically used by preheating the rod in the outer flame, then bringing it into a neutral working flame to avoid boiling and to keep the glass clear.
Once molten, you can use it to spot-weld and tack components together during complex assemblies, pull fine stringers for line work, encasement details, and clean seals, build small handles, feet, bridges, and attachment points with minimal added bulk, and reinforce thin areas before final heat work to reduce distortion and cracking risk.
