Asian-made clear borosilicate rod, machine-pulled for consistent diameter and reliable working characteristics. Clear rod is the primary building stock in lampworking because it can be used on its own for clean, transparent work, or used as a structural base for joins, handles, bridges, and reinforcement where you want strength without introducing color. A 6mm diameter is a strong, versatile size that carries more glass than 5mm, making it a better choice when you need added mass for thicker seals, sturdier attachments, and components that must hold heat and maintain shape during assembly.
How it is used:
This rod is used directly in the flame for lampworking. It can be melted down to make strong seals and attachments, pulled into stringer for fine line work, or used as a handle and punty for manipulating parts during assembly. Clear 6mm rod is commonly used for reinforcing joints, building up rims and lips, adding feet and small supports, and creating clean encasement layers when paired with compatible color. The added diameter is especially helpful when you want a more robust connection point or when you are working on larger assemblies where a smaller rod would chill too quickly or feel underbuilt.
