Asian-made borosilicate color rod in a transparent black formulation, supplied in a 7–10mm diameter range. Transparent black is used when you want a dark, smoky appearance that still transmits light, giving more depth than an opaque black and allowing layered color and encasement effects to show through. Color rod is used in lampworking as primary stock for building solid forms, adding overlays, and creating decorative elements, and the larger 7–10mm range provides extra mass for bigger components and stronger attachments.
How it is used:
This rod is used directly in the flame for lampworking. It can be melted down to build solid components, used for gathers and overlays, or pulled into smaller rod and stringer for detail work and line accents. The 7–10mm diameter range is especially useful when you need more glass for thicker applications such as bold overlays, sculptural elements, and reinforced joins that must hold heat longer during shaping.
