Asian 7-8mm Purple Rod

Asian-made borosilicate color rod in a purple formulation, supplied in a 7–8mm diameter range. Color rod is used in lampworking as primary stock for building solid forms, adding color overlays, and creating decorative elements, and it can be worked directly or pulled down into smaller rod and stringer for detail work. Purple is typically chosen when you want a rich, saturated color that reads bold and regal in finished work, providing strong contrast against clear and lighter colors while maintaining its presence in both thin and thick applications.
This rod is used directly in the flame for lampworking. It can be melted down to build solid components, used for gathers and overlays, or pulled into smaller rod and stringer for fine line work and detailed accents. The 7–8mm diameter range is especially useful when you want a moderate amount of glass for overlays, decorative elements, and components that need to hold heat during shaping and assembly. Purple rod is well-suited for bold color bands, sculptural details, and surface decoration, and it can be combined with clear for encasement effects that add depth while keeping the purple rich and saturated.
