Description:

This is heavily saturated transparent green borosilicate tubing made in China and supplied as straight tube stock in 4 ft. lengths. Color tubing like this is factory-drawn to keep the color even and the tube consistent, so it can be cut, sealed, sleeved, and joined with predictable results at the bench. A heavily saturated transparent green is a great choice when you want strong color presence while still keeping the depth and glow that transparent boro is known for, especially when the piece is backlit or viewed over clear.

In lampworking, color tubing is often chosen to build hollow forms efficiently and cleanly, since the color is already in the wall. That means fewer steps than wrapping rod, and it helps you keep a more uniform wall thickness on finished sections, seals, and joins.

How it is used:

This tubing is commonly used at the bench torch as a starting tube for hollow work. It is typically:

• Cut to length, then fire-polished and sealed for closed-end sections
• Opened and flared for mouth openings and collars
• Joined tube-to-tube for longer bodies and assemblies
• Sleeved over clear tubing to create a colored outer layer while keeping a clear interior
