Description:
Boro Batch Green Pearl Frit Large is a borosilicate glass color supplied as large frit. It is made by melting borosilicate color glass, then crushing and screening it into a larger particle size so it creates more defined, organic patterning and surface texture than fine frit or powder. Green Pearl is described as a dark green like the leaves of the largest, most well fed tree in the midst of summer. It was made to be used on the outside of your work to provide a great balance to any brighter encased colors. It is a great choice for wrap and rake techniques. Green Pearl is wonderfully workable but does not like to be encased, so it is best used as an exterior color application rather than buried under clear.
How it is used:
Place a small amount of large frit into a frit tray. Heat your base glass until the surface is tacky, then roll the hot glass through the frit to pick up pieces where you want color. Melt the frit in smoothly, then use a pick, rake, or tungsten tool to pull and comb the softened color into lines and movement for wrap and rake effects. Use light applications and good heat control to keep the pattern crisp and avoid overworking the surface.
