Mud Honey is a borosilicate color rod formulated as a brown earth tone with subtle hints of yellow highlights. It is produced as solid rod stock for lampworking, allowing you to heat it evenly, gather material, and apply it as wraps, overlays, or pulled stringer for detailed placement. This kind of earthy brown is especially valuable when you want natural, grounded color in sculptural work, animal tones, wood and stone looks, or warm neutral accents that still have visual depth from the yellow undertone.
How it is used:
Use this rod in borosilicate lampworking for surface wraps, sculptural builds, and layered color applications where you want an organic brown with gentle highlight character. Work it in a neutral to slightly oxidizing flame to keep the tone clean and avoid muddying the highlight. Apply it over clear for a warm transparent effect depending on thickness, or over opaque bases to create strong contrast lines and natural shading. It also pulls into stringer well for fur texture, bark lines, and fine contour work where the subtle yellow notes can add life to otherwise flat brown areas.
