Boro Batch Tangerine Dream Frit in large size is a borosilicate color frit made by crushing and sizing Tangerine Dream color glass into larger granules. This is an orange color that is described as heavier on yellow than red, giving it a bright, warm orange look that reads very “sunlit” in finished work. It is also described as a cadmium based orange, which means it benefits from careful flame control in lampworking. This frit is used when you want bold, visible color placement with more texture and pattern than fine frit, while still being able to melt the surface smooth for clean encasement and durable wear.
How it is used:
Preheat your frit if needed for your studio workflow, then heat the glass area where you want color until it is tacky and roll it through the frit or sprinkle frit onto the surface. Melt the frit in using a cooler flame to help keep the color from boiling. Avoid a heavy handed reducing flame as described on the product page. Once the frit is fully melted in, you can shape, twist, rake, or encase to create layered orange effects that stay bright and clean when worked with controlled heat.
