Boro Batch Tangerine Dream is a borosilicate color frit made by crushing compatible colored boro glass into small, consistent particles. In lampworking, this type of frit is used when you want fast, controllable color application without switching to a full color rod. Tangerine Dream is typically chosen for warm orange accents, surface patterning, and layered color effects on borosilicate work such as beads, pendants, marbles, small sculptural elements, and blown components.
Small frit is especially useful when you want more even coverage and finer detail than coarse frit, making it a strong choice for thin overlays, controlled fades, and clean “rolled-in-frit” bands that don’t build excessive thickness.
How it is used:
Clean and warm your base borosilicate piece in a neutral flame until the surface is slightly tacky. Roll or lightly press the hot glass into a frit tray to pick up an even layer of Tangerine Dream. Reheat gently to tack the particles down, then melt the frit in smoothly by bringing the piece back up to working temperature. For cleaner results, apply in thin layers and melt in fully before adding additional frit or clear encasement.
For added depth, you can apply Tangerine Dream as a base layer, melt it in, then add clear over it or combine it with other compatible boro colors for striping and layered transitions. Keep your heatwork controlled to avoid overworking fine detail, and use a steady, neutral flame to maintain consistent color development.
