Description:
Boro Batch Tangerine Dream Frit is borosilicate color glass that has been melted, crushed, and screened into extra-large frit for bold, chunky application and high-contrast surface texture. Tangerine Dream is an orange that is heavier on yellow than red, and it is described as a cadmium based orange. XL frit is chosen when you want pronounced, organic patterning and larger “islands” of color on the surface, making it ideal for bold accents, wraps, raked textures, and spot applications on beads, pendants, small sculpture, and blown components. Because it is cadmium based, it needs a cooler flame to help prevent boiling, and it should be kept out of a heavy handed reducing flame to maintain a clean, bright orange.
How it is used:
Heat your base borosilicate piece until the surface is tacky, then roll or press the hot glass into the XL frit. Return to the flame and melt the frit in gently using a cooler flame and steady heat so the color does not boil. Keep the work out of heavy reduction, and use multiple light gather-and-melt passes to lock the frit in place while preserving the bold, broken-up XL pattern.
