Description:
Black silicon carbide is the hardest blasting media available in this category and is graded to 80 grit. It is a sharp, aggressive abrasive used when you want efficient cutting action while still producing a clean, attractive finish. Black silicon carbide can be re-used many times, similar to sand or aluminum oxide, which makes it practical for regular sandblasting work. When you order a quantity of one you will receive one forty-five pound large flat rate box containing black silicon carbide and packaging. This item ships only in a large flat rate box, so shipping costs will be adjusted manually when this item is purchased.
How it is used:
Use 80 grit black silicon carbide in a sandblasting cabinet or pressure blaster to etch and frost glass surfaces with good control and a refined texture. In lampworking and scientific glass work, it is commonly used to create matte finishes for better grip and reduced glare, to prep surfaces for coldwork steps, and to add contrast for decorative patterns and logos. The 80 grit size is a strong all-around choice when you want shorter blast times and a smooth, even etch without going extremely fine.
Special Note:
When you order a quantity of one you will receive one forty-five pound large flat rate box of nothing but black silicon carbide and packaging. This item ships only in a large flat rate box so your shipping cost will be adjusted manually when this item is purchased.
