Description:
Black & White Fish Milli is a millefiori glass component made as small patterned canes that are cut into short slices for use as decorative inclusions. This milli features a high contrast fish design in black and white, giving crisp graphic detail that reads clearly even at small scale. In lampworking and kilnworked jewelry, millefiori is used when you want repeatable imagery without having to hand draw the pattern in the flame. It is commonly added to beads, pendants, marbles, paperweights, and small sculptural work to create a clean focal point, borders, or scattered pattern accents.
How it is used:
Warm the milli gradually at the edge of the flame to reduce thermal shock, then introduce it to a neutral flame and bring it up to working temperature. Apply the slice onto a prepared hot surface such as a bead, cabochon, or gather, then melt it in under a layer of clear glass to protect the design and create a smooth finish. For kilnforming, place slices on compatible glass, tack fuse for raised texture, or full fuse for a flatter surface depending on the look you want. Anneal the finished piece on an appropriate schedule for the base glass you are working with.
