Boro Batch Dark Muddy Waters Frit is a borosilicate color frit made by crushing compatible colored boro glass into a fine grit for detailed surface coverage and smooth melt-in. Dark Muddy Waters is a heavily saturated transparent brown that reads like a small amount of water poured into a glass of dirt. It is a great choice when you want earthy, natural tones with depth, especially where you want the underlying form or encased detail to remain visible through the color.
Because this is a fine frit, it is ideal for even coverage, shading, and light color layering. Heat your borosilicate base in a neutral flame, then lightly roll or sprinkle the hot glass into the frit to pick up a thin, controlled coat. Melt the frit in gently to avoid boiling the fine particles, then use additional heat cycles to smooth the surface. For the cleanest transparent brown, work in a neutral to slightly oxidizing flame and avoid dirty reduction that can mute transparency.
