Boro Batch Sunset Frit is a borosilicate color glass frit in a large particle size. It is made by melting compatible borosilicate color, then crushing and screening it into larger grains that give you more defined, organic patterning than fine frit or powder. Sunset is described as a brilliant striking orange that can produce reds and oranges, while still being a very creamy color to work with. This type of striking color is chosen when you want warm, sunset-style tones that can be developed through heatwork, making it a strong option for bold accents, overlays, and surface patterning on borosilicate lampworked pieces.
How it is used:
Use Sunset Large frit when you want visible frit breaks and warm color development across the surface. Heat the base glass until it is evenly tacky, then roll or press the hot glass into the frit. Bring it back into a neutral flame and melt the frit in slowly to avoid trapping air around the larger grains. To develop stronger reds and oranges, apply controlled heatwork by cycling the piece through warm and cooler zones of the flame while keeping the surface smooth and evenly heated. Large frit is especially useful for wraps, raked textures, and layered applications where you want the striking color to show depth and variation.
