Item Name:
Brown Aluminum Oxide (36)
SKU:
AB5036
Description:
Brown aluminum oxide is a tough, angular blasting abrasive used when you need aggressive cutting action and long media life. It is manufactured as a hard, crystalline aluminum oxide grit that fractures slowly and keeps a sharp working edge, which is why it is harder than most dry abrasive blast media and is able to cut even very hard metals. The 36 grit size is a coarse grade chosen for rapid material removal, heavy rust and scale stripping, and fast surface profiling when a deep tooth is desired. This item is supplied as a 50 lb. box, making it a practical studio and shop quantity for regular blasting work.
How it is used:
Brown aluminum oxide is loaded into compatible sandblasting equipment and propelled with compressed air to clean and texture surfaces. In lampworking and hot shop support work, it is commonly used to strip oxidation and scale from steel tooling, remove coatings from metal fixtures, and create an even, grippy surface profile on metal parts that will be painted, coated, or bonded. It can also be used to produce a strong etched texture on glass when used in a blasting cabinet with proper dust control. Because it can be reused many times, it is well suited for production environments where consistent cutting performance matters.
Dimensions:
When you order a quantity of one you will receive one 50 lb. box.
