Item Name:
Brown Aluminum Oxide (46)
SKU:
AB5037
Description:
Brown aluminum oxide is a versatile blasting abrasive engineered for balanced cutting action and extended reusability. This 46 grit size is a medium-coarse grade manufactured through the fusion of bauxite ore in an electric arc furnace, creating hard, angular particles that maintain their sharp cutting edges through multiple reuse cycles. The 46 grit is harder than most dry abrasive blast media and is able to cut even very hard metals, making it suitable for general-purpose blasting work where you need moderate cutting aggression without excessive surface texture. Each order of one unit includes a 50 lb. box of brown aluminum oxide with protective packaging.
How it is used:
Brown aluminum oxide is loaded into sandblasting equipment and propelled with compressed air to clean, prepare, and texture surfaces. In glassblowing studios and hot shops, it is used to remove light to moderate oxidation and scale from steel tooling, prepare metal substrates for coating or bonding, and create a controlled surface profile on fixtures and work surfaces. The 46 grit size strikes a balance between aggressive material removal and surface finish quality, making it ideal for both production work and detail-oriented applications. The material can be recirculated and reused many times, providing excellent value for ongoing studio operations. Wear appropriate safety equipment including respiratory protection and eye protection when operating sandblasting equipment.
Dimensions:
When you order a quantity of one you will receive one 50 lb. box.
