Description:
This is a 33 COE dichroic encased colored glass cane that is hand pulled. The cane combines cyan and dark red to create a golden butterscotch color with striped dichroic character. Encased dichroic cane is used in lampworking when you want strong color movement and reflective dichroic flash inside a solid, workable cane form that can be heated, stretched, and integrated into surface design without handling thin sheet dichroic.
How it is used:
Warm the cane gradually in the back of the flame to reduce thermal shock, then bring it up to a working heat and apply it like you would any color cane for line work, striping, and wraps. You can lay it onto a bead or small sculpture for bold accents, pull it down into stringer for finer detail, or use short sections as inserts and decorative elements. For best clarity and control, keep the heat even across the cane and avoid overheating the surface so the encasement stays clean and the dichroic effect remains crisp.
