Description:
The Caldera Height Collar Extender is a kiln accessory designed to increase the usable height of a Caldera-style bead annealing kiln. It is constructed as a rigid collar section that fits between the kiln body and the lid, effectively raising the lid height so you can anneal taller work without crowding the chamber.
In lampworking, this type of extender is used when your bead, small sculptural form, or assembled component sits too tall for the standard kiln opening. Adding height helps prevent accidental contact with the lid or hot brick, reduces the chance of knocking a piece while loading, and gives you more clearance when parking work in the kiln during a session.
How it is used:
Place the collar extender on top of the kiln body so it sits flat and stable on the kiln rim. Set the kiln lid on top of the extender, making sure the lid seats evenly all the way around. Once installed, use the kiln normally for garaging and annealing, taking advantage of the added internal height for taller pieces.
