Description:
Covington's Electric Dop Stove is an electric heated dop wax pot designed to bring dop wax up to working temperature and hold it there steadily during use. The unit comes complete with a removable copper pot, which is used as the heated container for the wax. It operates on standard 110V, 60Hz power and is designed to use very low wattage, comparable to a 50 watt bulb. In lapidary and faceting work, a dop stove is used to melt and maintain dop wax so stones or glass can be attached to dop sticks for secure handling during grinding, sanding, and polishing. In a glass studio that does coldworking, this is a practical bench-side tool for preparing dop wax for small parts that need stable, repeatable positioning during finishing.
How it is used:
Place dop wax into the copper pot and power on the unit. Allow about 15 minutes for the wax to reach proper working temperature, then use the molten wax to attach the workpiece to a dop stick or holder appropriate for your process. During use, the stove maintains the wax at a consistent temperature as long as it remains on, which helps keep your dopping workflow predictable when you are mounting multiple pieces. The unit can also be used as a pickling pan and as a wax heater for silversmiths and jewelry designers.
