How it is used:

Beer bottle brown stringers are used in lampworking when you need thin, controlled applications of transparent color without adding excess glass mass. They are commonly used for drawing lines, striping, scrollwork, and fine detail on beads and small sculptural forms. In soft glass work, a stringer is warmed in the outer flame, then brought into the working flame and applied to a hot base bead or component. The stringer can be used to trail raised lines, melt in for smoother decoration, or layered under clear for depth.
