Description:
DEVARDI OP Gray Frit is a compatible 104 COE glass frit made by crushing and screening colored glass into small granules for easy application in the flame. Opaque gray frit is used in lampworking when you want a solid, non-transparent gray that reads cleanly on the surface of beads, pendants, and small sculptural work. Frit is especially useful for quick color coverage, mottled or stone-like effects, and controlled surface texture, and it can also be layered under clear for depth or combined with other colors for reactive-looking blends and shading.
How it is used:
In lampworking, you heat the base bead or gather until the surface is tacky, then roll or dab the hot glass into frit in a tray. Once the frit is attached, you gently heat to sinter the grains in place, then melt them smooth under a neutral flame. You can leave the surface slightly textured for a dry, matte look, or fully melt it in and encase with clear for a glossy finish and added durability before annealing.
