Description:
Devardi Powder - Transparent Ink Blue is a finely ground lampworking glass colorant made to be used as a surface-applied powder in the flame. It is manufactured as a dry, free-flowing powder so you can pick up small or heavy amounts of color quickly without pulling stringer or committing to a full rod. Ink blue is used when you want a strong, saturated blue that can be applied in thin layers for shading and linework or built up for dense, opaque-looking coverage depending on how heavily it is applied. Powder is commonly chosen for painterly effects, smooth color transitions, and for getting color into small areas where a rod would be too blunt.
How it is used:
Use a small amount of powder in a dedicated dish and keep it dry and free of debris. Warm the glass you want to color until it is slightly tacky, then roll or dab the hot glass into the powder to pick up an even coating. Melt the powder in gently with a neutral flame, rotating continuously to avoid scorching and to keep the coating even. Repeat the application if you want deeper color, then proceed with shaping. If you plan to encase, make sure the powder layer is fully melted in and smoothed before adding clear to reduce the chance of trapping texture.
