It is made from compatible colored glass that has been drawn into consistent rods measuring 6-10mm thick and 8-12 inches in length. The transparent emerald green color is a rich, jewel-toned green that reads clearly when light passes through, making it ideal for creating depth in layered designs, encasement work, and transparent color effects where you want a sophisticated, darker green without losing luminosity.
How it is used:
Rod glass is used as the primary building material for creating beads, vessels, and sculptural forms. Warm the rod gradually in the outer flame to prevent thermal shock, then bring the working end to a molten state. You can wrap the rod around a mandrel to create beads, use it to build up layers of color and form, or combine it with other colors for complex designs.
