Description:
Devardi Rod - Transparent Green is a 104 COE soft glass rod made from transparent green-colored glass. It is produced as full-size lampworking rod intended to be worked directly in the torch for beads, small sculpture, and decorative components. Transparent green is used when you want clean, light-transmitting color that can be layered for depth, used for encasement effects, or combined with other transparents to build gradients and dimensional color transitions. It is especially useful for leaf tones, bottle-green accents, and bright transparent overlays that keep the design visually open rather than opaque.
How it is used:
Pre-warm the rod at the edge of the flame to reduce thermal shock, then heat to a smooth working glow and apply by winding onto a mandrel for beads or by gathering and shaping for small sculptural work. For clean transparency, work in a neutral to slightly oxidizing flame and avoid prolonged reduction that can darken the surface. Use transparent green as a base color, as striping, or as an overlay for layered depth, then bring the piece to an even heat to smooth and finalize the surface before annealing with a schedule appropriate for 104 COE soft glass.
