Description:
Devardi Rod - Transparent Seaweed Green is a 104 COE soft glass rod made from transparent seaweed green colored glass. It is produced as full-size lampworking rod designed to be worked directly in the torch for beads, small sculpture, and decorative components. This color is chosen when you want a deeper, more muted transparent green with blue-green undertones that still transmits light, making it useful for ocean-inspired palettes, sophisticated layered effects, and building natural depth without turning the design opaque. It is commonly used for aquatic themes, seaweed and kelp tones, coastal designs, and transparent overlays that add richness and dimension over both light and dark base colors.
How it is used:
Introduce the rod gradually to the flame at its edge to prevent thermal shock, then heat to a smooth working glow and apply by winding onto a mandrel for beads or by gathering and shaping for small sculptural work. For clean transparency and to preserve the seaweed green tone, work in a neutral to slightly oxidizing flame and avoid heavy reduction that can muddy or darken the color. Use the rod as a base color, as striping, or as a transparent overlay for layered depth, then bring the piece to an even heat to smooth and finalize the surface before annealing with a schedule appropriate for 104 COE soft glass.
