Devardi Rod - Transparent Vibrant Blue is a 104 COE soft glass rod made from transparent vibrant blue colored glass. It is produced as full-size lampworking rod designed to be worked directly in the torch for beads, small sculpture, and decorative components. This color is chosen when you want a strong, saturated transparent blue that still transmits light, making it ideal for bold transparent layers, clean encasement effects, and building depth without losing brightness. It is commonly used for ocean and sky palettes, high-contrast transparent striping, and overlays that add rich blue color while keeping the design visually open and dimensional.

How it is used:

Preheat the rod gradually at the edge of the flame to reduce thermal shock, then heat to a smooth working glow and apply by winding onto a mandrel for beads or by gathering and shaping for small sculptural forms. For clean transparency and to preserve the bright blue tone, work in a neutral to slightly oxidizing flame and avoid heavy reduction that can darken the surface. Use the rod as a base color, as striping, or as a transparent overlay for layered depth, then bring the piece to an even heat to smooth and finalize the surface before annealing with a schedule appropriate for 104 COE soft glass.
