Description:
Diamond Handpad 800 is a handheld polishing pad made with 800-grit diamond abrasive bonded to a flexible backing. It is designed for smoothing and shaping glass surfaces after lampworking, glass fusing, or other glassworking techniques. The 800-grit diamond surface removes moderate surface irregularities, flame-frosted finishes, and tool marks while preparing the glass for finer polishing grits. Diamond handpads are chosen for glass work because they maintain their cutting action longer than traditional sandpaper, resist clogging, and provide consistent results throughout their working life.
How it is used:
Wet the glass surface and the handpad with water to create a slurry that helps carry away glass dust and prevents the pad from clogging. Using moderate pressure, work the pad in circular motions or back-and-forth strokes across the area to be smoothed. Rinse frequently to clear away glass particles and monitor your progress. For best results, start with 800-grit if the surface is moderately rough, then progress to higher grits such as 1200 or 3000 for increasingly fine finishing. After achieving the desired smoothness with diamond pads, move to polishing compounds for a glossy final finish.
