Covington Machines - Double 1/2 Gallon Tumbler - 220v is a powered rotary tumbler built with a motor-driven base and two rotating barrels, each with a 1/2 gallon capacity. The unit is designed to run on 220-volt power and is used for batch tumbling and polishing of small parts. In glasswork and lampworking studios, a double-barrel tumbler is used when you want to smooth, pre-polish, or polish multiple small glass components at once, such as tumbled glass pieces, small cast parts, beads, or coldworked components. It is also useful for tumbling metal findings and small hardware used in jewelry work. The dual-barrel design allows you to run two different grit stages at the same time, or to keep different materials separated while processing.
How it is used:
Load each barrel with your workpieces, the appropriate tumbling media, and water or compound as required for the stage you are running. Seal the barrels tightly, place them on the rollers, and run the tumbler for the time needed to achieve the desired finish. Start with a coarser stage for smoothing if the pieces are rough, then progress through finer stages for pre-polish and polish. Rinse pieces thoroughly between stages to avoid carrying coarse grit into a finer run. When finished, clean the barrels and media, then dry and inspect the parts before final assembly or additional hand polishing.
