Description:

Double Helix Ekho 2 Rod is a 104 COE soft glass rod produced by Double Helix Glass. Ekho 2 is a dual-color glass capable of both reducing and striking. It is a reformulated version of the original Ekho glass. The nucleation system used in Skylla and Skiron has been added to this formulation, resulting in a glass that is easier to strike than the original version.

How it is used:

This rod is used in soft glass lampworking when you want to explore either reduction or striking techniques, but the glass works best if you commit to one technique or the other rather than combining both in the same piece. When reduced in a neutral to slightly reducing flame, the glass develops one set of colors. When struck by heating and cooling, it develops a different color palette. The improved nucleation system makes it more responsive to striking than the original Ekho, making it a good choice for beadmakers and sculptors who prefer striking techniques or who want a more forgiving glass for color development.
