Description:
Double Helix Hyperborea is a 104 COE soft glass rod produced by Double Helix Glass. Hyperborea has a rich violet and red color transmission and easily develops a strong silver luster when reduced. It works well both in surface applications and under encasement. The color is saturated and may present best over a core of clear glass. Hyperborea is a replacement to Boreas and is made in Double Helix's updated color base, resulting in cleaner colors, smoother working characteristics, and improved viscosity curves.
How it is used:
This rod is used in 104 COE soft glass lampworking when you want to create striking violet and red tones with a reactive silver luster effect. The glass responds well to reduction flame chemistry, making it ideal for beadmakers and sculptural work where you want a lustrous surface. Use it as a color accent or primary color in your design. The glass works effectively both as a surface application on clear glass cores and under encasement, giving you flexibility in your design approach. The improved working characteristics make it responsive and smooth to work with compared to earlier formulations.
