Description:
Double Helix Terra 3 is a specialty lampworking color formulated as a dual color that can be developed through either reduction or striking. It is made to respond to controlled heatwork and flame chemistry so you can bring out different surface effects and color development depending on how you work it. This reformulated version uses Double Helix Glass’s newest nucleation system, the same nucleation system used in Skylla, Skiron, and Ekho2, and this nucleation system is designed to make the glass easier to strike.
How it is used:
Warm the rod in gently at the far end of the flame, then bring it up to a workable glow and apply it as a base color, wrap, or surface decoration. Develop the finish by choosing either a reduction approach or a striking approach, then cycle the heat as needed to bring the color up. Once the effect is where you want it, keep the piece evenly warm, then place it into a kiln and anneal using a schedule appropriate for the glass you are working.
