Description:
Double Helix Triton Rod is a specialty lampworking color rod manufactured as a solid, colored glass rod approximately 12 inches long and 5 to 7 millimeters in diameter. Triton is an extra strength Super Luster on a cobalt blue base designed to produce a satin iridescence and swirls of multi-colored silver effects. The luster can be retained under clear glass, making it ideal for creating pieces with sophisticated metallic finishes and depth. This color is chosen when you want dramatic, high-end effects that combine rich blue tones with shimmering silver character.
How it is used:
Introduce the rod to the flame gradually to prevent thermal shock, then heat to a workable glow and apply it to your piece as a base layer, wrap, or surface design. Work the glass with steady heat to develop the luster effects and iridescent qualities. If you wish to retain the luster, cap the piece with clear glass before final annealing. Place the finished piece into a kiln and anneal using a schedule appropriate for the glass you are working.
