Description:
This Electroforming Kit is a complete starter set for electroforming glass beads and other small glass items with a copper deposit. The kit includes a 3-amp digital rectifier with constant current and constant voltage control, top quality alligator leads, a quart glass jar with lid, copper electroforming solution, copper brightener, and a full 1 oz bottle of copper electro-conductive paint. It also includes copper anodes, copper wire for hanging and forming supports, polishing wax, paint brushes, nitrile gloves, a ScotchBrite pad, tube bumpers to stabilize wire, steel wool, coffee filters, a charcoal filter, and an instruction booklet. In lampworking and beadmaking, electroforming is used when you want to add a durable metal shell to glass components for jewelry, mixed-media work, and decorative finishes. This kit cannot be shipped outside of the United States.
How it is used:
Clean and prep the glass surface, then apply the copper electro-conductive paint where you want copper to build. Set up the glass jar as the plating tank with the copper solution, place the copper anodes in the bath, and suspend the painted glass piece using the included copper wire so it does not touch the anodes. Connect the rectifier using the alligator leads and run the process at controlled current and voltage so copper deposits evenly. Use the brightener as needed for finish quality, then rinse, dry, and polish the plated surface with the included polishing wax and abrasives.
