This bead release is a liquid coating applied to mandrels before lampworking to prevent finished beads from bonding permanently to the rod. It is formulated to create a thin, even barrier that withstands torch heat without flaking, cracking, or contaminating the glass surface. The 16-ounce size is a standard studio quantity suitable for regular bead production. Bead release allows you to remove finished beads cleanly after they cool, making it an essential supply for any beadmaker.
Apply bead release to a clean mandrel by dipping or rolling it in the liquid, or by using a brush to coat the working surface evenly. Allow it to dry completely before loading the mandrel into your torch workspace. As you work, the release will gradually burn away from the heat, but it should remain effective throughout the bead-making process. After the bead cools completely, gently wiggle and rotate it on the mandrel, then slide it off. If needed, soak the bead briefly in water to help soften any remaining release, then rinse and dry it. This product is essential for efficient production and for keeping your finished beads free of mandrel marks.
