Description:
Transparent Gray frit is made by crushing compatible 104 COE Effetre Moretti glass into a medium frit size, then packaging it for controlled, repeatable color application in the flame. This transparent gray is used when you want shading, soft neutral overlays, and depth without fully blocking underlying pattern or base color. In lampworking it is commonly applied to beads and small components for even surface coverage, subtle tonal shifts, and layered effects, and it is especially useful when you plan to encase and want the design to stay crisp and readable through the clear.
How it is used:
- Warm the bead or component to a tacky surface heat and roll or sprinkle the frit onto the glass to apply an even layer of color.
- Use light applications to create smoky shading and heavier applications for deeper transparent gray coverage.
- Melt in smoothly and, if desired, encase with a compatible 104 COE clear to add depth and protect the surface.
- Layer over other compatible 104 COE colors to mute brightness, create transitions, and build dimensional transparent effects.
