Description:
The Heavy-Duty Grinder/Polisher 220V is a floor or bench-mounted coldworking machine built for grinding and polishing glass and lapidary materials using rotating wheels. A heavy-duty grinder polisher is constructed around a rigid motor-driven arbor that spins multiple grinding and polishing wheels, allowing you to move through shaping, smoothing, and finishing steps on the same machine. This style of machine is used when you need controlled, repeatable material removal for tasks like flattening small surfaces, refining edges, cleaning up saw marks, and bringing a worked area up through finer grits toward a polish. In a lampworking shop, it is especially useful for coldworking steps after annealing, such as dressing punties, refining the foot of a vessel, smoothing sharp edges, and preparing surfaces for final finishing.
How it is used:
Set the machine in a stable location with appropriate electrical service for 220V operation and enough clearance to work safely around the wheels. Confirm the wheels you plan to use are appropriate for your material and stage of work, then inspect them for damage before powering on. If using water for wet grinding, set up water feed and splash control so the wheels stay lubricated and glass dust is minimized.
